My defining moment at St. Mary’s University was when I was admitted into the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) in my sophomore year. JAMP is a program established by the Texas Legislature to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students in pursuing a medical education.
This unique partnership between St. Mary’s and JAMP gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and pursue my dream of becoming a physician. Further, it was through these meaningful experiences that I realized the importance of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care that is tailored to my future patients’ specific needs.
I plan to reciprocate the life-changing impact I have experienced by becoming a physician and serving those in need.”
