Garvin, Ph.D., CEO, President and Director of CytoBioScience Incorporated Join us as Garvin delivers a presentation about CytoBioScience's technology, ion channel research, the biotech industry and investing in biotech for the future. James R. Garvin is the CEO, President and a Director of the Company. Dr. Garvin has twenty-nine years of experience in working in the biotech sector and finance. His work has been recognized by the French Academy of Science and he was named one of sixteen healthcare innovators in the state of Texas for 2017. As a former investment backer, he has worked on a number of different biotechnology acquisitions, in the US, Europe and in Israel. He has been a board member of a number of companies and currently is on the board of the Zerah Foundation which provides educational opportunities for underprivileged children in India. His international range of experiences and interests has been diverse but this has allowed him to have an outside of the box perspective that has served him well in working with companies and situations over the years. Garvin received his PhD in Economic Systems from the University of New Orleans, as well as his Masters in Administration and his BA (Hons) in English and International Relations from the State University of New York, Albany.     St. Mary's University San Antonio, TX EventScheduled 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM - Flex Field: Continuing the Heritage Day of Service Event is a University-wide service project that takes place at the beginning of the fall semester and during Lent as part of "40 Days of Service." The event is sponsored and organized by the Civic Engagement Center and the Marianist Leadership Program. Traditionally, more than 700 St. Mary’s volunteers come together to give more than 3,000 hours of service in the community.Each year, students, faculty, staff and alumni come out in droves to volunteer for community projects around San Antonio. They lend their time and talent to paint houses for the elderly in the St. Mary’s neighborhood area, work in community gardens, serve food to the homeless at Haven for Hope, paint playgrounds at Head Start locations, remove graffiti and more.Since 2003, nearly 7,500 volunteers have offered approximately 41,000 hours to organizations providing much-needed service throughout San Antonio.Previous partners have included Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Guadalupe Home, Catholic Charities, Roy Maas Alternative Thrift Store, Grace Place for Alzheimers, St. Mary’s Legal and Social Justice Center, Root of Change Community Garden, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, and many more.

He also directs the Center for the Study of Science in Muslim Societies. His research focuses on understanding the reception of science in the Muslim world and how Muslims view the relationship between science and religion.Hameed led a four-year National Science Foundation-funded research project on the reception of biological evolution in diverse Muslim societies. He is currely leading a study to understand and analyze the discourse and participants in online Islam and science videos. National Public Radio, Public Radio International, the BBC, and the Guardian have covered his research results. She joined Capitol Concierge in 1998 and purchased the company in 2007. Since then, she has been redefining the concierge industry. Lynda leads Capitol based on the philosophy that service matters, a commitment to customer satisfaction and a pioneering spirit. From utilizing the latest technology, to introducing virtual concierge services, to adding new services that help busy professionals manage their hectic schedules, Lynda is always looking for ways to transform the concierge service experience. Last year, Lynda and the Capitol Concierge leadership team implemented a bold strategy to expand its business base by taking the company to the international market. Today, the company serves more than one million busy people worldwide. As an entrepreneur and a business owner, Lynda has a track record of growing companies and taking them to the next level. While a student at St. Mary’s University, she started a customized gift company which she later sold for nearly $1M. Prior to purchasing Capitol Concierge, she was the co-owner of a successful $25M instructional technology company. With each of her businesses, Lynda has let the adage “do the right thing—even when no one is looking” guide her and believes it is the reason behind her success. Lynda believes that it is important to give back to the community she serves and was instrumental in launching Capitol Cares, the philanthropic arm of Capitol Concierge. Capitol Cares has now logged thousands of hours of pro bono work in addition to countless forms of community service through organizations like the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and Wounded Warriors. Lynda is a member of the Red Cross Tiffany Circle and serves as an Ambassador with the Yellow Ribbon Fund, an organization that strives to meet the unmet needs of injured veterans, caregivers and families through the recovery process.
