Past Presidents and Leaders

When St. Mary’s Institute opened in 1852, it was a boys’ school providing elementary and secondary education. Until one of the Institute’ offshoots, St. Mary’s University, became authorized by the State of Texas to grant bachelor’s degrees, the school was led by directors.

Thomas M. Mengler, J.D., became the 13th president of St. Mary’s University when he took office on June 1, 2012.
