The Bachelor of Science degree programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. With ABET accreditation, students, parents, employers and the society we serve can be confident that our programs meet the quality standards in graduating students who are prepared to enter a global workforce.

Program Educational Objectives

Consistent with St. Mary’s University’s mission, the educational objectives of the undergraduate programs in engineering have been developed. The following criteria below are the program educational objectives for the Bachelor of Science degree programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

To educate and train technically competent engineering graduates who will be able to:

  • Practice engineering in an ethical manner aligned with Marianist values
  • Act in a professional manner and make positive contributions to society
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, with an ability to follow, lead or manage
  • Become lifelong learners in their professions and mentor others

Student Outcomes

The student outcomes that prepare graduates to attain the program educational objectives are:

  3. Ability to apply knowledge of engineering to real-world problems.
  4. Ability to design and conduct experiments.

  8. Ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems.
  9. Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively.
  11. Broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global societal context.

  13. Knowledge of contemporary issues.
  14. Ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
