The St. Mary’s University School of Law honored the success and contributions of Dallas attorney John Holman Barr (B.B.A. ’78, J.D. ’80) with a portrait unveiling in the Sarita Kenedy East Law Library’s Law Alumni Room on Saturday, April 2.

“As a leader of our alumni in Dallas, John has been a never-flagging champion for his law school, setting a high standard for personal commitment and hard work to encourage alumni engagement, student recruiting and program support,” said Stephen M. Sheppard, J.S.D., Dean of the School of Law.

Barr has practiced law in Texas and Latin America for nearly 35 years with Burt Barr & Associates LLP. He has conducted civil trial and appellate work in state and federal court and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit, all federal districts in Texas and the Texas Supreme Court. He is board certified in civil pretrial and civil trial practice by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Among many notable achievements, Barr has represented plaintiffs and defendants in highly contested litigation and represented the Republic of Mexico’s Minister of Energy and Attorney General. Barr has been recognized in various magazine publications and served as the President of the Dallas Chapter of the St. Mary’s University Law Alumni Association in 2012.
