The St. Mary’s University School of Law Moot Court Team of Stephen Bachran and Bianca Frisaura claimed the championship title in the 2014 Mack Kidd Administrative Law Moot Court Competition in Austin.

The Administrative and Public Law Section of the State Bar of Texas sponsored the competition, which occurred Oct. 24-25 and was open to all ABA-accredited law schools in Texas.

The External Advocacy Program (EAP) Moot Court Team of third-year law students was the only team to win all five of their preliminary rounds before going on to defeat the team from Baylor Law School in the final round.

The team accrued other accolades as well:

  • Bachran was named best advocate of the championship round and the best speaker of the preliminary rounds.
  • Frisaura was named the fifth-best speaker overall.
  • The team’s brief was named 2014 Best Brief.

Ricky Poole coached the team. Chief Justice Woodfin Jones, Justice Jeff Rose and Justice Melissa Goodwin of the Third Court of Appeals judged the championship round.
