Robert Stuart Rosow, age 83, of San Antonio, died Feb. 8, 2003.
He was a Certified Public Accountant since 1953. His leadership activities
in the
Jewish Community included; First recipient of Temple Beth El Exceptional
Service Award, 2000; President of Temple Beth El, 1963-65; honorary Vice
Chairman of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, (UAHC) the parent
body of Reform Judaism; member of UAHC Investment, Budget, Aging, and
Maintenance of Union Membership Committees; President of the Southwest
Council of the UAHC; President of the Texas-Oklahoma Commission, which
established the Greene Family Camp, Member Emeritus of the Cincinnati Board
of Overseers of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion;
Chairman of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Jewish Committee,
1968-69; a founder of Golden Manor Jewish Home for the Aged and its
president from 1978-81, as well as Honorary Chairman for Life.

As a proud graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Business [B.S.C., ’45],
he received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy on May 12, 2001;
established, with his wife, Freida, the Rosow Scholarship Fund; served
as President of Alumni Association, 1960-61; received the 1975 Distinguished
Alumnus Award; was a member of the Board of Directors. Other community
activities and honors included: President of United Way of San Antonio and
Bexar County 1975-76; President of the International Association of Torch
Clubs, 1986-88; Chairman of the San Antonio Area Foundations’s Investment
Committee, 1995-97; recipient of the 1974 Brotherhood Award of the
National Conference of Christians and Jews. He taught at St. Mary’s in the
School of Business and Administration from 1974 to 1994. In addition, he
served on St. Mary’s Board of Trustees from July 1977 to May 1982,
October 1982 to May 1985 and from September 1990 to April 1998.

Additional professional activities and honors included: Board of Directors of
Ramada Inc.-and its successor, Aztar Corp., since 1969, as well as President
or Board Member of several businesses; Honorary Life Member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants; named “Public Citizen of the
Year” by
the South Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Freida Henry Rosow,
and their son, Leonard Paul Rosow; his parents, David and Eva Rosow; and his
brother, Lawrence Rosow. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David
Frank and Jean Rosow; granddaughter, Jennifer Rosow Jaroszewski and
her husband, Russell; grandson, Leonard Paul Rosow II
and his wife, Christina; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial service is set for 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Temple Beth El with
Rabbi
Barry Block officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are; Elliott Cohen, Jerry
Conn, Dr. Charles
L. Cotrell,, president of St. Mary’s University, Gerald
Dubinsky, Bro. Paul Goelz, Richard Goldsmith, Bernard Harris, Steve Henry,
Nat Jefferson, Dr. Meredith Mallory, Jr., Steve Rubin, William Sawyer,
Stanley Schoenbaum, Albert Tietze, and Neill Walsdorf.
