1. When will my email be changed to Microsoft Live?
Wednesday, June 29th
2. Will my email address change?
No, your email address will be the same
3. Will I still have access to all my emails that I had in my old email box?
Only if you archive the mail prior to June 29th. Archived email can be retrieved by the Microsoft account.
4. Where can I get instructions on how to archive my email?
Click on the "Alerts" link at www.stmarytx.edu/its
5. What new features will I gain with my new email service?
Outlook Live Image
  • Use email through graduation and beyond
  • Get 10 GB inbox, 18 MB attachments
  • Protect email from spam & viruses
  • Use instant messaging services with Outlook Live including audio and video with your chats, applications sharing, file transfers, and more.
  • Use mailbox aggregation that allows you to aggregate other personal e-mail accounts within Outlook Live
  • Get access to your email, contacts, and calendar from anywhere including a broad range of active sync enabled phones (examples: Windows Phone, iPhone, Android)

  • Get 25 GB of free online storage.
  • Store, access, and share thousands of documents, photos, and Microsoft Office files
  • Access files from anywhere online & view photos from most web-enabled mobile phones anywhere you have Internet access
  • Control who sees what with password protection
  • Drag and Drop: Uploading content is as easy as dragging and dropping the files from your computer onto the Web (requires Microsoft Silverlight installed)
  • Working on a project with classmates? With shared folders, the whole team can upload, download, and collaborate on documents and other files
Office Web Apps Image
  • Easily store files and documents online in a password protected environment
  • Access, view and edit your online documents from home, the classroom, the library, or virtually any PC or Mac that is connected to the Internet
  • View and perform basic editing functions on your online documents even from a computer that doesn't have Microsoft Office installed
  • Be able to control who has permission to view or edit any one of your documents
  • Simultaneously edit documents (Excel spreadsheets and OneNote notebooks) with others in real-time and see exactly who is editing and viewing your documents

6. Will I be able to still receive email on my mobile device? (i.e. cell phone?)

7. Will I still be able to forward my email to my non-St. Mary’s email account?
No, forwarding will be disabled.
8. How do I access my old email messages from my new email account?
Follow these instructions to import your archived email: Importing your Archive
9. Will I lose any email that is sent to me on the day email changes to Microsoft Live?
No, messages may be delayed but will be delivered once the move to Microsoft Live is complete.
10. Who do I call if I need help with my new email account?

11. Must I use the St. Mary’s email address for communication with my faculty and department offices on campus?
The policy of the University supports the use of the St. Mary’s provided email address for electronic communication. Information pertaining to your academic, business or general communication about events will be communicated electronically to you using the St. Mary’s email address.
