Archiving E-mail with IMAP or POP3

Faculty and Staff E-mail Instructions

IMAP (Preferred)

1. Open Microsoft Outlook
2. Create a profile name by selecting "New" and provide a name "STMU-Mail"
3. On the Account setup screen select "Manually Configure" and then Next
4. On the Choose E-mail Service screen select "Internet" (for IMAP) and then Next
5. On the Internet E-mail settings screen provide:
   
   
• User Information
• Your Full Name: Your Name
• E-mail Address: "jsmith@stmarytx.edu"
  
  
• Server Information
• Account Type: IMAP
• Incoming mail server: rattler.stmarytx.edu
• Outgoing mail server: rattler.stmarytx.edu
  
  
• Logon Information
• User Name: just the logon ID as provided by STMU without the @suffix.edu
• Password: as provided by STMU
• Leave the "Remember password" checked if you like
  
  
• To verify you have everything correct, select the "Test Account Settings..." button
  
  
6. On the Test Account Settings" screen you should have two "Completed" indicating success
7. Select close
8. When successful, select Next, Finished, OK
