Academic Organizations

Accounting Club:
President - Stephanie Hopkins Advisor - Dr. Mark Persellin
The Accounting Club exists to promote the initiative and interests of students in accounting; to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence; to cultivate a sense of responsibility and service with the members; to promote the collegiate study of accountancy and to provide opportunities for association among its members and practicing accountants.

American Chemical Society of Students: Conditionally Recognized
President - Samantha Nichols Advisor - Dr. Michael Losiewicz
A student organization that serves to bring together socially; students who share an interest in Chemistry and related sciences; to share ideas and support each other towards career goals and graduate study; to extend service to the community to understand the relation of our scientific interests to the needs of society; and to encourage young students to pursue the study of science.

American Marketing Association:
President - Kristina Lindsey Advisor - Dr. Richard Priesmeyer
St. Mary's University American Marketing Association Mission: The mission of St. Mar'ys University American Marketing Association is to provide members with the necessary skills to successfully market themselves and attain their preferred job after graduation and to also facilitate activities geared at the personal and professional development of members with an emphasis on philanthropy, technological advancement, cultural awareness, and professional orientation.

Association of Information Technology Professionals:
President - Jose Resendiz Advisor: Monica J. Parzinger
AITP offers opportunities for IT leadership & education through partnerships with industry, government & academia; nearly 9,000 members nationwide.

Finance Club:
President - Nick Maldonando Advisor - Dr. Adrian Cowan
The purpose of this club is to accomplish three goals. The first goal is to expand awareness of professional careers in the field of Finance. The second goal is to provide a network between club members and local corporations for possible internships, employment and mentorships. The third goal is to provide service to underprivileged members of the community in a manner consistent with all of the values honored at St. Mary's University.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE): Conditionally Recognized
President -Ricky Ledesma Advisor - Djaffer Ibaroudene
The purpose shall be the dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of electrical engineering, computers, electronics, radio, allied branches of engineering or the related arts and sciences, as well as the furtherance of the professional development of members.

Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE): Conditionally Recognized
President - Esmeralda McKinney Advisor - Albert Sun
This organization is and shall be operated exclusively for scientific, educational, and charitable purposes. The goal of this organization is to advance the general welfare of mankind through the resources and creative abilities of the Industrial Engineering profession.

International Relations Society: Conditionally Recognized

The purpose of the International Relations Society is to support students in the International Relations program at St. Mary's through lectures, faculty interaction, improvement of research facilities, disseminating information about employment opportunities and social activities.

Pre-Medical Society:

The Pre-Medical Society is an organization designed to nurture the minds of students interested in perusing a career in medicine with membership open to all who seek to expand their knowledge about the medical field and learn about preparing for the application process to medical school.

Psychology Club: Conditionally Recognized
President - Elvira Gonzalez Advisor - Dr. Jennifer Zwahr-Castro
The Psychology club is a student organization which focuses on bringing about a greater awareness of psychology as a multi-faceted discipline with many applications in our society by engaging in service activities in the spirit and tradition of St. Marys University. Other goals of the Psychology club include: building a sense of solidarity among fellow students, providing a forum for students to address questions and concerns about psychology, and share ideas from a psychological format.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE): Conditionally Recognized
President - Marcos Mendoza Advisor - Dr. Rafael Moras
SHPE works to increase the number of Hispanic engineering students at St. Marys University, to promote the advancement of Hispanic engineers and scientists in employment and education, and to improve the retention of Hispanic students enrolled in engineering and science.

Society of Mathematicians: Conditionally Recognized

The purpose of the Society of Mathematicians is to promote student interest in math, stimulate academic and professional growth, demonstrate how math can be applied to the real world, and promote the values of St. Marys University.

Society of Physics Students: Conditionally Recognized

This group is intended to organize students interested in physics and to help retain students majoring or minoring in physics through tutorial sessions and peer advising sessions.

Sociology, Criminology, and Criminal Justice (SCC) Club: Conditionally Recognized

The Purpose of NSO shall be to provide service learning opportunities to enhance our majors understanding and application of their disciplines and to develop academic and/or professionalizing experiences to promote preparation for future careers.

Student Educators Association for Dynamic Leadership (SEAL): Conditionally Recognized
President - Paulina Hernandez Advisor - Barry Crist
SEAL encourages educational and professional growth of members and assists the education department in sponsoring activities for education majors or anyone interested in education.
