Get Recognized

Starting a new organization on campus can be a great experience. Everybody wins! Not only are you able to develop an interest or an idea into a brand-new opportunity for involvement at St. Mary's University, but you will gain invaluable leadership skills that will help you in the classroom now and in your future workplace. The Registered Student Organization (RSO) Office will assist you on your journey.

Steps to Forming an Organization:

  1. Connect with other students who share your interests and have the dedication to support you through the recognition process.
  2. Attend one of two scheduled New RSO Info Session to help orient you about the responsibilities of starting a new organization and get you on the path to recognition.
  3. Complete Step 1, the Intent to Organize Form. The form will notify the RSO office of your intent and grant the potential new organize the right to get organized and recruited the 10 additional members needed to submit the actual Student Organization Recognition Packet.
  4. The Student Organization Recognition Packet contains a checklist with the forms to be submitted. The various forms will tell the RSO Office about your membership, it's officers as well as your consitituion.
  5. Submit a complete Student Organization Recognition Packet to the RSO Office for evaluation. Upon approval, the group will receive instruction about Risk Management Compliance Training.
