The Division is led by Katherine Sisoian, Vice President for Student Development. Sisoian joined the University in the early 1980 s and has served in a variety of roles and a series of progressive positions of responsibility including director positions for cooperative education, academic advising, and career services. Following a 1999 national search, Sisoian was appointed Vice President for Student Development. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Spring Hill College and a Master of Arts degree in counseling earned from St. Mary s University.

In her strategic leadership role, Sisoian has focused on the integration of co-curricular programs and services with the academic programs at the University, in partnership with faculty colleagues whenever possible. Developing programs and services that integrate the Marianist mission with a committed team that will inspire students to utilize their skills and abilities to serve others and make the world a better place, underscores the leadership model in Student Development. Program review is ongoing, learning outcomes are developed and assessed, and professional development considers the needs of Catholic higher education and proficiency in one s field to ensure that students are getting the best possible out of classroom experience. The student is at the heart of the work in Student Development and a culture of keeping current with best practices, contributing to the literature in our respective fields, and understanding that the traits and characteristics of each entering class offers us a dynamic work environment that is both challenging and rewarding.

Along with President Mengler and others, Sisoian is currently advancing plans for a new residence hall designed to accommodate the growing number of undergraduates who wish to live on campus. In addition, plans are underway to improve the various programs, services, staffing, and infrastructure that will support this exciting expansion of the residential campus community. Discussions have begun to refresh and update the designs and construction schedule for the new residence hall, projected to include 400-500 beds and open in August 2014.
