Firsts in Sports

  • 1982 First All-Americans: Terri Nunez (B.A. ’84) and Katherine Ashour (B.A. ’83), softball; and Mary Hoernschemeyer – now Sister Irene Regina, F.S.P. (B.A. ’83), basketball
  • 1983 First All-Conference and All-District Volleyball player: Carol Apolinar (B.B.A. ’85)
  • 1986 University’s first national championship: St. Mary’s women’s softball team
  • 1994 First volleyball All-American: April Fricke (B.A. ’95)
  • 1994 First inducted into St. Mary’s Athletics Hall of Fame: Sister Irene Regina, F.S.P., basketball; and Leticia “Letty” Morales-Bissaro (B.A. ’86), softball, who went on to be the first woman at St. Mary’s inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame and to have her jersey number retired
