First-time visitors to St. Mary’s may be startled to see the lovingly maintained cemetery with its marble headstones sparkling in the sunlight. They may ponder why a Rattler is emblazoned on books and newspapers and team uniforms. Or wonder at the curious array of metal sculptures found around the campus. They may marvel at the innovations in education offered to San Antonio by the Marianists. Or at the amazing dedication required by them and others to make the school what it is today. It is these things and so many others that make up the fabric of St. Mary’s traditions and its culture. And, it is a richness of history firmly grounded in our Marianist founders’ ideals of community, scholarship and service. |
