A Collection of Marianist Profiles

Marianist 2002 Sesquicentennial Photo

In anticipation of the 150th anniversary of Marianist education in Texas, San Antonio-area priests, sisters and brothers of the Society of Mary gathered for a group photograph in the Mary, Mediatrix of Grace Chapel on the St. Mary’s University campus.

As we anticipate our next 150 years with a renewed commitment to our special place in higher education, we are mindful of the reputation and tradition of excellence in education forged by the Marianists. It is because of their dedication and sacrifice, their intelligence and innovation, and sometimes just their sheer determination, that St. Mary’s University thrives today.

Their numbers may have decreased over the years, but the Marianist sisters, priests and brothers are 110-strong in Texas, with more than 75 of them in communities affiliated with St. Mary’s.

Also, you can find them doing parish work in Helotes, Denton, Houston and San Antonio, and teaching in high schools in Fort Worth and in our own city.

Over the years, profiles of Marianists have appeared in University publications. While space does not permit including profiles about all of the Marianists we hold dear to our hearts – and that is all of them – in this commemorative publication, we hope you’ll enjoy reading those appearing here.
