<title><![CDATA[School of Law Graduation Held May 19]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[St. Mary&rsquo;s University School of Law held its Spring Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 19, 2012. 284 students  graduated and the commencement speaker was the Hon. Nelson Wolff (J.D. '66), Bexar County Judge. During the ceremony, the School of Law  honored St. Mary's University President Charles L. Cotrell, Ph.D., with the St. Thomas More Award; Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez (J.D. '72) with the Lifetime Achievement Award; and the Hon. Pamela A. Mathy, United States District Court, Western District of Texas, with the Rosewood Gavel Award.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[The St. Mary&rsquo;s University School of Law Moot Court team of third&ndash;year law student Phillip Ripper and second&ndash;year law student Rachel Felderhoff  won the 2012 Federal Bar Association Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition this spring in Washington, D.C.

<title><![CDATA[Fourth Court of Appeals on Campus]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[The Fourth Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in two appeals on March 7,  in the St. Mary&rsquo;s University School of Law Courtroom. Arguments in the first appeal will be presented to a panel of justices consisting of Justice Karen Angelini, Justice Sandee Bryan Marion and Justice Phylis J. Speedlin.  The second panel to hear arguments will consist of Justice Rebecca Simmons, Justice Steven C. Hilbig and Justice Marialyn Barnard.]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Center for Terrorism Law Defending Marine]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Faculty and research fellows at St. Mary's Center for Terrorism Law are working with Marine Lt. Joshua Waddell, stationed in Afghanistan, to defend him against what he reports to be spurious accusations by his Commanders that he committed violations of combat rules of engagement in the course of a combat operation. Jeffrey F. Addicott, director of the Center for Terrorism Law, says this case is an example of how overly restrictive rules can lead to injustice to our troops in the field. <br><br>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Reacting to the devastating fires that have ravaged Central Texas this week, St. Mary&rsquo;s University School of Law alumni David Chamberlain (J.D. &rsquo;78), president of the Austin Bar Association, and David Collins (J.D. &rsquo;04), president of the Bastrop County Bar Association, formed the Central Texas Wildfire Legal Response Team. The team has been on the ground in Bastrop County providing free legal services to fire victims since Wednesday morning.]]></description>

The event speaker was Ricardo G. Cedillo, who received his bachelor&rsquo;s of arts from St. Mary&rsquo;s in 1974, but went on to the Harvard School of Law. During the ceremony, Cedillo was presented a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, for his outstanding professional achievements and recognitions, as well as his support to the School of Law.]]></description>
