bio photo Lieutenant Colonel David Guarriello became the Professor of Military Science at St. Mary's University on 27 July 2009. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Field Artillery on 24 May 1991 from the Georgetown University School of Business Administration. Previous assignments include serving as Company Fire Support Officer, Platoon Fire Direction Officer and Battery Executive Officer in 1-41 Field Artillery at Fort Stewart, Georgia from May 1992 through August 1995; serving as Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1-21 Infantry, Battalion Adjutant for 2-11 Field Artillery and Battery Commander for C Battery 2-11 Field Artillery at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii from April 1996 through May 2000; serving as Current Operations Officer for United States Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii from June 2000 through June 2001; serving as World Class Opposing Force Planner for the Battle Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from July 2001 through August 2003; serving as Brigade Fire Support Officer, Battalion Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer for 4-42 Field Artillery as well as Chief of the 4th Infantry Division G3 Training at Fort Hood, Texas from July 2004 through June 2009.

Lieutenant Colonel Guarriello's civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Marketing degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from Webster University. His military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Command and General Staff College and Ranger School.

MSG Bobby Ray Bennett Jr. was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York. Master Sergeant Bennett enlisted in the United States Army on 2 February 1990. He completed Basic Combat Training and his Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and was awarded the 13 Bravo MOS.
Master Sergeant Bennett has held a variety of duty positions to include; Cannoneer, Gunner, Ammunition Team Chief, Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Instructor, Battalion Operations Sergeant, and Firing Battery First Sergeant. His civilian and military schooling includes; Associates in General Studies, Battle Staff Course, and Instructor Course.
His Awards include; Bronze Star Medal (3OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (8OLC), National Defense Service Medal w/ bronze stars, South West Asia Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (Combat Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, The Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon ( 4th Award), NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge. Master Sergeant Bennett is a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

    Master Sergeant Bennett s overseas assignments include; Service Battery 8th Battalion 8th Field Artillery South, Korea, 3rd Battalion 1st Field Artillery, Germany, 1st Battalion 6th Field Artillery, Germany. His Stateside assignments include; Alpha Battery 5th Battalion 18th Field Artillery Ft. Sill Oklahoma, Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 82nd Field Artillery Ft. Hood, Texas; 2nd Battalion, 307th Field Artillery Ft. Jackson South Carolina. Bravo Battery 2nd Battalion 3rd Field Artillery Ft. Bliss Texas, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 2nd Battalion 3rd Field Artillery Ft. Bliss Texas.
    He is currently serving at St. Mary s University San Antonio, Texas as the Senior Military Science Instructor.
    He is married to Adrian and they have one child, a daughter named Calyx. They reside with him in San Antonio, Texas.

bio photo Major Dina D. Ruck arrived to St. Mary's University, ROTC Department on 1 April 2012. She is from Rio Grande City, Texas. MAJ Ruck graduated from Rio Grande City High School and enlisted in the United States Army on 26 December 1990. She completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort. Jackson, South Carolina, and was awarded the 71L (Administrative Specialist) MOS. Later, she attended the Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of the Adjutant General Corps on 29 April 1999.

Major Ruck enlisted years includes a variety of administrative positions. She worked at 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade (Bde), Emery Barracks and Giebelstadt, Germany; 553d Corps Support Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; and 3d ROTC Bde, Fort Knox, Kentucky. Previous assignments as an officer are as follow: from September 1999 through April 2000, Strength Accounting Chief and Enlisted Management Chief, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; from September 2002 through April 2006, Company Commander, C Co, and Training Developer, HHC, Training Support Battalion, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; from May 2006 through May 2008, Actions Branch Chief, US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; from May 2008 through May 2010, Casualty Operations Team Chief, 14th Human Resources Sustainment Center, Fort Bragg, in this capacity, she deployed for one year to Kuwait; she returned to USASOC and served as the S1, 528th Sustainment Brigade from September 2010 through March 2012.

Major Ruck's civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Public Management from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee and a Masters of Science in Human Resources from Webster University. Her military education includes the Adjutant General Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, Air Assault School, Airborne School, and Intermediate Level Education.

Major Ruck is married to Loren and they have two children, Brandon (19) and Valerie (16).

bio photo After service as an Air Force Space Command Communications NCO, Captain Augustine Varela Jr., entered the Reserve Officer Training Corps at University of Nebraska, Omaha. CPT Varela was commissioned in 1990 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.

RET. CPT Varela is a graduate of the Signal Corps Officer's Basic Course, Signal Corps Advance Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School (CAS3), Commander's Course, Observer / Controller Trainer (OC/T) Course.

Current an Assistant Professor of Military Science and Recruiting Operations Officer for Saint Mary's University, San Antonio, Tx.

bio photo Mr. Pedro S. Martinez was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He is a graduate of San Antonio Academy and Texas Military Institute. After high school he received a four year ROTC Scholarship to attend St. Mary's University.

Upon completion of his studies Mr. Martinez was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Armor on 03 May 2005 from St. Mary's University School of Humanities and Social Science. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Military Science. Previous assignments include serving as Scout Platoon Leader, Squadron Adjutant, Assistant Operations Officer, and an Aadvisor to Iraqi Brigade Staff and Engineer Company. Mr. Martinez served and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from December 2007 through February 2009 with the 2nd Squadron 14th Cavalry, 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI. He served active duty from 2005-2009.

Mr. Martinez's military education includes Armor Officer Basic Course and Scout Leader's Course.

Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Military Science at St Mary's University and the Training Officer. As well he is attending Graduate School at St. Mary's University in pursuit of a M.A. Degree in Educational Leadership.

bio photo SFC (R) Bryant is the Military Science instructor representative at Texas A&M University San Antonio. SFC Bryant served in the Air Force as an Air Cargo Specialist for 2 years, as well as serving in the Army for over 21 years as a Quartermaster. He was also a Petrolium Supply Specialist (92F).

SFC (R) Bryant's military education includes: Petroleum Supply Course, Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Course, Hazardous Material Certification Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic NCO Course, Combat Life Savers Course, and Convoy Commanders Course.

He has been deployed to Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Spring (Kuwait), Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) II and OIF 06-08.

He received his bachelor of science in Technical Management from DeVry University as well as an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in San Antonio, TX.

RET. SFC Bryant is married to Holly K. Bryant and has 3 children, Taylor 17, Gregory II 15,Addison 15 months.

bio photo Mrs Bowen started working with the Department of Defense (DOD) as a Human Resource Assistant in Wiesbaden Germany. She worked as the passport and Immigration liaison for military personnel at the 55th Personnel Service Company.

Ms. Bowen transferred to San Antonio, Texas in January 2008 and began working as a Human Resource Technician with the 32nd Medical Brigade at Fort Sam Houston Army base. Mrs. Bowen began working as a Human Resource Assistant (HRT) at the UTSA in 2011, and is presently working as the HRT at St. Mary s University, as the replacement for Ms. Brenda Meyers who recently retired.

Mrs. Bowen has been married to Paul for 29 years and they have two beautiful children, Charity and Paul Jr. Her favorite pastime is “being with the ones that love me most, My family!”

bio photo Mr. Moore attended basic training at Ft. Benning, GA and completed Signal AIT at Ft. Gordon, GA in 2002. He served with the 16th SIG BN at Ft. Hood, TX, where he was deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq in 2003 and to Mosul, Iraq in 2006. In 2007 Mr. Moore served in the 449th Air Support BN. He received his commission through St. Mary s Army ROTC in 2010, and attended Signal BOLC at Ft. Gordon, GA. He is currently the recruiting officer and MSII instructor for the St. Mary's ROTC department.

bio photo Mr. Randall enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 2008. He received his commission through the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, and attended Infantry BOLC at Ft Benning, Georgia.

Currently he serves with the Texas Army National Guard in Houston. He is the Special Projects Officer for the St. Mary's ROTC Department.
