Retention Committee

The University Retention Committee supports the mission and goals of St. Mary's University by providing student-centered, campus-wide leadership to develop, implement and advocate student success practices that facilitate the retention and graduation of our undergraduate students. The committee will address both the academic and social adjustment of students in developing success strategies. The committee is overseen by the Division of Enrollment Management, and chaired by the Assistant Vice President for Retention Management.

Goals

  • Meet on a regular basis to provide leadership on issues related to retention. (two or three meetings each Fall and Spring semester)
  • Review current retention and graduation rate data.
  • Recommend strategies and programs to address issues as they relate to the persistence and graduation of our undergradaute students.
  • Define successful models for retention initiatives and coordinate implementation within appropriate areas. Recognize and continue current practices that positively influence student retention and success.
  • Identify ways to partner with Academic Affairs and Student Development on student success initiatives.
  • Identify and assign potential sub-committees to address specific plans for areas identified as needing additional attention.
  • Provide recommendations for retention and graduation target rates.
  • Present an annual report to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
