Q. My housing assignment is not the one I asked for, how can I change that?

A. At the moment our main concern is to house everyone. If you specified your hall preference on your application we do have you on the list for that hall and if a space becomes available we will try to accommodate you.

Q. I submitted my application and forgot to put my friend's name down as a roommate preference. How can I change that?

A. Please submit that in writing, fax, or email to Residence Life, and the person that you want to room with will have to do the same. We can make no guarantees at this time, but will try to accommodate you if possible.

Q. Is there still housing left?

A. Applications are always being accepted, however we will house out-of-town residents before local applicants . We are getting cancellations on a daily basis and we usually don't have a problem getting everyone housing that needs it. Please fill out an application and we will do our best to accommodate your request for housing.

Q. Till when do I have to cancel my housing and still get back my room and key deposit?

A. The housing contract states that you have until June the first to cancel your housing agreement in order to receive your entire deposit back, From June 1st to July 1st you will only receive a 50% refund. After July 1st, you will forfeit your entire deposit.

Q. What if I move into housing and I don't get along with my roommate, will I be able to get another room?

A. We ask that you first try to resolve your differences with your roommate, if that doesn't work, we have mediation with an RA or hall director, we always move you to another room as a last resort. We really want our students to learn good problem solving skills.

Q. When will housing assignments be mailed out?

A. They will be mailed out by the first week in August. We send roommate addresses, but (for reasons of confindentiality) not phone numbers.

Q. What is included in my room?

A. Desk, chair, carpet, standard twin bed, a closet for each person in room, blinds, local telephone service (only), phone cards may be purchased in bookstore, basic cable, air conditioning, and internet connection for each resident. See additional Services.

Q. Are there laundry facilities available?

A. We have a laundry facility in every resident hall. There is no cost for laundry facilities.

Q. How can I get a tour of the halls?

A. Please refer to our Admission office at www.stmarytx.edu/admission/ to make an appointment.

Q. Is Internet access provided?

A. All rooms are wired for the Internet through a LAN line. St. Mary's notebook computers are equipped for the Internet.

Q. Do I need a meal plan?

A. All residents (except Graduate & Law students) are required to have a meal plan.

Q. Is there maid service?

A. No. You are in charge of cleaning your own room and bathroom. Maintenance only cleans the common hall areas.
