Dougherty Hall (1968) is named for Genevieve Tarlton Dougherty (1884-1972) of Beeville, whose family donated the funds for St. Mary's first women's residence hall.

Founders Hall (2009) is named for those who founded St. Mary's University in 1852. Founded by Marianst brothers and priests, St. Mary's was the first institution of higher learning in San Antonio, and is the oldest Catholic university in the southwest.
