Themed Living

If you're a freshman that will be living on campus in the fall, consider one of our themed living options!

Why Choose Themed Living?

Themed living gives you the opportunity to connect with students who share similar interests, helping you feel part of a group from the very beginning of your time at St. Mary's.

Together with participants in your program or community, you can attend home and away games, play in the great outdoors, volunteer for a community service project, or connect with faculty members. If you are coming to San Antonio from another city, state, country, or even a different part of town, themed living opportunities will help you learn more about the city and nearby attractions through off-campus outings.

Themed Programs

St. Mary’s themed programs are open to all first-year students living in a residence hall. Students participating in themed programs are encouraged to attend activities that interest them, but there is no minimum participation expectation of you, your roommates or your suitemates. Just get together and have fun!

Rowdy Rattlers

Calling all Rattler fans! If you love to play sports or cheer on your favorite teams, this is the themed program for you. Together you can attend Rattler games, decorate your hall, put on tailgate parties and support Rattler athletics.

Small World

Are you majoring in international business, international relations, or a language? Want to meet other international students or just widen your world view? Then consider the Small World community. Students in this program will be living with others who have a passion for learning about new cultures, people and the rapidly shrinking world we in which we live.

Themed Communities

Students living in themed communities at St. Mary's University are invited to apply, and those selected are housed together with roommates and suitemates in the same community. Students who are chosen are expected to attend activities, and those who remain active have the opportunity to continue their community experience the following year.

Science Living Community

Students majoring in the sciences—from forensic science to biology, engineering to computer science—are invited to join the Science Living Community. Live down the hall from your classmates and in the same building as upperclassmen studying similar subjects. This community partners with the school of Science, Engineering and Technology to host programs throughout the academic year and invites faculty to visit the halls and share their passion and experiences.

Rattlers have HEART

If you are interested in wellness or the great outdoors, then this is the program for you! You’ll have the opportunity to visit nearby recreation areas to go hiking, canoeing or camping. In this community, you will also take a freshman seminar together so you can get to know each other—inside the classroom and in the great outdoors.
