About the iCritical Thinking Exam

What is the iCritical Thinking exam?

The iCritical Thinking exam is composed of simulated, scenario-based task items. Content areas reflect real-world academic and workspace scenarios. The ability to accomplish every-day tasks by effectively utilizing technology must be demonstrated. Technology domains include Web Use (E-mail, Instant Messaging, Bulletin Board Postings, Browser Use, Search Engines, etc.), Database Management (Data Searches, File Management, etc.) and Software (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Graphics, etc.).

How do I take the iCritical exam?

Exam dates will be e-mailed to all students and posted on this website as soon as they become available in April during the spring semesters and in October during the fall semesters. Students should register for the iCritical Thinking exam at http://ats.stmarytx.edu/workshop as soon as exam dates are posted. Please note: the majority of testing sessions are limited to 22 students.

Test sessions for students needing special accommodations are limited to 10 students. These test sessions are indicated by the designation (SpecAcc). Students who need special testing accommodations need to contact Dr. Rhonda Rapp, Disability Services Coordinator, (436-3135 or rrapp2@stmarytx.edu) as soon as possible.

Once you register for a testing session, Testing Services will send you an e-mail with information about registering with Certiport, the test provider at www.certiport.com.

Students must register with Certiport and obtain a User Name and Password before they come to the test session. Students can register for one testing session. If you need to reschedule your testing session, please contact Jeff Schomburg.

Please note:
  • Students must arrive at testing location 10 minutes prior to test time.
  • Students must bring a current photo I.D. and your Username and Password obtained from Certiport.
  • The test will be charged to the student's St. Mary's account ($35)*
  • It is a timed test. Students have one hour to complete test.
  • Students should plan on administrative time in the computer lab in addition to the actual test-taking time (check-in, approval to test by the Proctor, obtaining a score report, etc.). Plan on being at the testing session for approximately 90 minutes.
  • Passing the iCritical Thinking exam will fulfill the University requirement. The minimum passing score for the iCritical Thinking exam is 250. Students who do not pass the iCritical Thinking exam must wait at least seven days before a retest is allowed.
  • Course credit will not be given for the test.

For general questions about iCT testing, please contact Jim Willis (rwillis@stmarytx.edu).
