St. Mary’s University, founded by the priests and brothers of the Society of Mary, provides a Catholic educational experience that evokes academic excellence while integrating liberal studies, professional preparation and ethical commitment.
Motivated by the Christian conviction of the unity of truth, a tenet that has characterized Catholic universities from their foundations, St. Mary’s University seeks to provide an academic environment in which the many branches of human knowledge encounter one another so that truth emerges in its own right. The educators of this University consider it of critical importance to work in an interdisciplinary manner toward the integration of faith and reason, the humanities and technology, the fine arts and the marketplace, a concern for others and for self, personal freedom and a commitment to the welfare of the entire human family.
St. Mary’s University serves the various communities of San Antonio, the Southwest, the nation, and the world through the intellectual, spiritual, moral and professional leadership of its faculty, administration, staff and students. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition, the University strives to contribute to the urgent task of extending justice, freedom and dignity to all people.
