For more than 30 years, the President's Ambassadors have been an integral part of the University's heritage, where students of all academic and cultural backgrounds have graciously volunteered their time and personable attributes toward serving and promoting St. Mary's University, leaving with valuable knowledge and experience to last a life time.

President's Ambassadors are students who are eager to learn new things, meet new people, and promote the mission of the University and the values of our Marianist heritage. As members, students continue a legacy of learning through stewardship, communication and participation, and are continuously exposed to unique and valuable service opportunities that are rewarding and fun. Come be a part of the time honored legacy!

Responsibilities

  • Serve as hosts, greeters, ushers and assistants on behalf of the President at special events.
  • Professionally and eloquently represent our organization and St. Mary's University.
  • Assist in the recruitment of future President's Ambassadors.
  • Maintain membership by abiding by the guidelines and requirements of the organization.
  • Maintain and balance academic, service, and social obligations.
  • Maintain an active role in the organization.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
  • At the time of application, must have  attended,  at minimum, two complete semesters at  St. Mary's University (first-year freshmen can apply the next year, after completing two semesters at St. Mary's.)
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Maintain a clear disciplinary record with the University.
  • Must be able to participate in numerous University events throughout each semester, completing a minimum of 15 event hours per semester.
  • Complete and submit an application packet, which consists of the following documents:    
    1. Application - available online.
    2. Two letters of recommendation - the first letter must be from one of your current or former  professors, the second letter must be from a University professional such as a workstudy or internship supervisor, administrator, or another professor. Please, no letters from family members, friends, or off-campus employers or associates as we are particularly interested in learning from other members of the campus community how they perceive your ability to be a steward of our University and of the Marianist spirit.
    3. Personal essay (single line paragraph spacing, one page preferred) that serves as an introduction to your application packet, letting us know more about you on a personal level. We are also interested in learning about what brought you to St. Mary's, your impressions as a student,  your experiences with our Marianist heritage, and how you perceive your role as a community member of this campus.
    4. Professional resume that shows your academic profile, University involvements including memberships to organizations, participation in athletic programs, volunteering and community service;  please also include all  employment information such as off-campus work and University work-study program. If included, high school information should be limited only to pertinent senior year accomplishments.
    5. Current 4x6 color photograph of yourself (please no others in picture); photos will be kept on file.
