Physical Plant Department Associates of the Month July 2008 Nominee: Steven Borrego
Nominated by: Housekeeping
The Housekeeping Division would like to nominate Steven Borrego for Associate of the Month for July 2008.
Steven has been with Housekeeping for about five years. Presently he works evenings at Reinbolt Hall ensuring that the classrooms, offices, and common areas are kept up to standards. Steven has also worked as a floater and in other buildings. He has always taken pride in what he does, which shows in the quality of work he consistently provides. In the last couple of years Steven has averaged above nineties on his inspections.
Steven is being nominated because he has been very instrumental in taking the lead on floor projects, assisting the crew leader for the North Campus. His attention to detail and following procedures ensures that standards and time lines are met for the new semester. He is positive about his work and the challenges he encounters. He goes beyond “just getting the job done” to making sure the customer’s expectations are met. He has very good interaction with his co-workers, crew leaders, and customers and is very pro-active and positive. Steven has perfect attendance, practices good safety habits, and volunteers to assist on projects. He is the kind of person that makes all of us be seen in a positive light.

The Skilled Crafts Division would like to nominate Julio Martinez for Associate of the Month for July 2008.
Julio begins each workday logging the Central Plant. He then hastily moves onto maintaining the salt levels of many water softeners located throughout campus. Afterwards he moves onto the task at hand. During the month of July, Julio assisted the Central Plant team by performing annual fan coil unit maintenance in Cremer Hall and John Donohoo, preparing hot water boilers for annual inspection in Adele, Flores, John Donohoo, CLSL, and the University Center Burnham boiler. He assisted with piping of the water softener in John Donohoo and the repairs to the chilled water pumps in this building as well as Anthony Frederick. Julio has assisted in keeping the University Center cafeteria operating by repairing the ovens, fryers, steam wells, and skillets.
Julio has a very positive can-do attitude that is reflected in his daily work. He is an intelligent and motivated person that does not turn away from any task and is an asset to the Central Plant Team.
Nominee: Maria Rodriguez
Nominated by: Front Office
The Front Office would like to nominate Maria Rodriguez for Associate of the Month for July 2008.
Maria has taken it upon herself to provide Lupe Rodriguez, Project Secretary, with training on the telephone console, the front reception area, and has assisted her with closing out projects. In addition, she fills in for Lupe during her absence by answering the telephone console and assisting service providers.
Maria also manages to fill in for Diana Gomez, Work Control Clerk, when she is out on vacation.
Maria is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help anyone needing her assistance. With that being said, we nominate Maria for Associate of the Month.

The Grounds Division would like to nominate Irma Sanchez for Associate of the Month for July 2008.
Irma is very dependable and always willing to go the extra mile to get all her duties done. She works very hard at maintaining flower beds and keeping the fields watered. She really does make a difference on the areas she works on. If she can reach it she will take care of it.
For her hard work and dedication, we believe Irma is worthy of this nomination. |
