Planning Your Trip

We understand the challenge of making travel plans and that's why we feel it is important that we provide you with a few helpful tips and encourage you to make your travel plans as soon as possible.

Transfer students and guests should plan to attend the entire one-day Zaragoza Program. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. If flying, we advise you to arrive the day before and that you to not make any return travel arrangements that require a departure before 5 p.m.

First-year students and guests should plan to attend the entire two-day Zaragoza Program. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. on Day 1. If flying, we advise you to arrive the day before and that you do not make any return travel arrangements that require a departure before 6 p.m. the following evening.

Reminder: Please take into consideration scheduling your Compass examinations that you may need to take prior to the beginning of your Zaragoza program so that you can incorporate it into your travel arrangements.

Important Documents

Please bring any transcripts, CLEP exam scores, or AP exam scores that have not already been submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. You can turn in any of your important documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admission at anytime during the program.

Transportation

St. Mary's University is located approximately 20 minutes from the San Antonio Airport. If you wish to rent-a-car, you can visit the San Antonio Airport Car Rental website for more information. If you do not wish to rent a car, you can take a taxicab to campus, which costs approximately $30 - $35 each way.

Parking is available in Parking Lot T in front of the AACC (Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center). Campus Map

Residence Hall Check-In

May Transfer Zaragoza Program-
Students attending the May Zaragoza program are welcome to stay in the Residence Hall from Monday, May 21 to Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

June I & June II Zaragoza Programs-
Students attending the June Zaragoza programs are strongly encouraged to stay on campus at no charge from Thursday - Sunday of your respective program. Participants are engaged in various sessions from 8:15 AM - 10 PM on Day 1 and to 4 PM on Day 2. Staying on campus maskes this easier. In addition, during the evening hours, Zaragoza Leaders will be available to answer academic advising questions in preparation for registration of classes on Day 2. Staying in the residence halls also offers students, whether you will be a resident or commuter, a chance to become familiar with living on campus as you will be all housed in one Residence Hall for the program.

Reserve your accommodations when registering for your Zaragoza Program on Gateway. Accommodations include: Double occupancy room with another new student attending the program, beds, pillows, towels, and linens. You will need to provide your own toiletries. You may also want to bring: a blanket, personal towel, alarm clock, and phone charger. Special accommodations for students with disabilities are available.

August Zaragoza Programs-
New and transfer students who will be living on campus and attending the August Zaragoza programs will be allowed to move into their assigned residence hall on their assigned date prior to the Zaragoza Program.

Parents & Guests Accommodations

Parents and guests attending the May or June Zaragoza Programs are also invited to stay on-campus. The rates are as follows:

1 Night - Single Room: $49 Double Room: $78
2 Nights - Single Room: $98 Double Room: $156
3 Nights - Single Room: $147 Double Room: $234
4 Nights - Single Room: $196 Double Room: $312

Accommodations include: Beds, pillows, bed spreads, linen, towels, hand towels, and wash cloth. You will need to provide your own toiletries. You may also want to bring: a blanket, personal towel, alarm clock, and phone charger. However, if you prefer, you are welcome to make you own reservations at any of the area local hotels. Note: Parents and guests will be housed separately from incoming new students. Special accommodations for families with disabilities are available.

August Zaragoza Programs-

If attending the August Zaragoza Programs, due to Residence Hall move-in's, parents and guests will be required to plan and make their own accomodations off campus.

Zaragoza Check-In/Payment

Zaragoza Programs-
Transfer program check in will take place in the Alkek Building. New student program check in will take place in the Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center. Listed below are the time(s) you have the opportunity to check-in for your scheduled Zaragoza program.

June I New Student Zaragoza Program--
Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. OR

Friday, June 22, 2012 from 7 - 8:30 a.m.

August Transfer Zaragoza Program-
Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 8 - 9 a.m.

August New Student Zaragoza Program-
Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. OR
Friday, August 17, 2012 from 7 - 8:30 a.m.

There is a Zaragoza registration cost of $130 that will be charged to the student's account and will appear on their tuition bill in the fall for attending the program. You do NOT need to pay the $130 orientation fee up front. The $130 fee includes the student and up to 2 parents or guests. For additional guests, there will be a $30 charge for each guest that is 13 years old and over; $15 for guests between the ages of 4 - 12; and children 4 and under are free. Payment for addition guests will need to be paid up front at check-in. No credit cards will be accepted.
