President's Message to the University Community

At St. Mary's University, our Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has met regularly to monitor the situation and will continue to do so as long as the Swine Flu pandemic exists.

Updates and recommendations related to the Swine Flu situation are available on Gateway and the St. Mary's website and can be accessed by clicking on the "Flu Advisory" button. Please go to this site often for updates. If any changes should occur, new information will be posted at this site and, if it becomes necessary, students, faculty and staff will be notified via e-mail.

Please do your part to minimize exposure and reduce the potential for spreading the Swine Flu. Some of these precautions include practicing safe habits related to hygiene such as frequent and thorough hand-washing, and staying at home and away from large crowds if you are feeling ill with flu-like symptoms. In addition, the University will continue to be vigilant with its cleaning and sanitation of critical areas on campus, since influenza is thought to be spread mainly from person to person through coughing and or sneezing of infected people.

Please be assured that St. Mary's will continue to monitor the evolving Swine Flu Pandemic and take any steps necessary to ensure the health and well-being of St. Mary's students, faculty and staff.
