St. Mary´s Volleyball to "Dig Pink" Wednesday Night Against Incarnate Word
The Rattlers will host Incarnate Word in their annual "Dig Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness night at Bill Greehey Arena on Wednesday night.

SAN ANTONIO—The St. Mary’s University volleyball team will again join in the fight against breast cancer this Wednesday, when they host the University of the Incarnate Word in their annual “Dig Pink” breast cancer awareness event at Bill Greehey Arena, starting at 7 p.m.

Wednesday night’s event will feature many different forms of entertainment. A tailgate party hosted by St. Mary’s Student Life will be held outside the front of the arena, starting at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Rattlers and the Cardinals will take the court for their Heartland Conference volleyball match. During the match, the video boards will have numerous educational messages about breast cancer awareness. Also a silent auction will be held throughout the match, which will feature items including courtside San Antonio Spurs tickets, signed volleyballs, official St. Mary’s “Dig Pink” uniforms and gift baskets. During the intermission between sets two and three of the match, there will promotions and recognition of breast cancer survivors in attendance.

Proceeds from the match will go to the Side-Out Foundation, a non-profit organization helping in the fight against cancer. The Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) was established in 2004 by a group of individuals drawn together by their love of volleyball, but who also share a similar passion to be a part of the war against breast cancer.  Side-Out’s mission is to raise money for the war against breast cancer through the recreational activity of volleyball.

Last year’s event brought in a school-record 1,000 fans and raised nearly $2,000 for Breast Cancer Research.
