Junior Year

Scholar Requirements:

  • Complete diagnostic asssessments
  • Attend seminars/workshops to include Financial Aid for Undergraduates, Study Skills, Personal Stress Management, Writing the Personal Statement and Research Compliance
  • By the end of the year, target and research at least ten graduate programs
  • Complete Kaplan GRE course and take GRE practice to establish baseline
  • Complete summer research
  • Present research at McNair Scholars Research Symposium and Undergraduate Research Symposium
  • Submit research to off-campus conference
  • Submit research paper for publication in STMU-McNair Scholars Research Journal

 

Requirements each semester:

  • Attend six seminars/workshops (must attend required topics)
  • Meet twice a month with Faculty Mentor (submit signed summaries to program office) and once monthly with Program Director or Assistant Director
  • Attend tutoring for any course in which midterm grade falls below B
  • Update Individual Progress Plan and submit to program office by second week of semester
  • Attend GRE class at program office or LAC once each week
  • Update resume/vita and provide copy to program office
  • Meet with Assistant Director to review course registration
