Continuing the Heritage

Continuing the Heritage is a university-wide service project that takes place at the beginning of each semester. MLP members participate in continuing this St. Mary's University rich tradition of service and civic engagement by leading and working at a volunteer site. The event is co-sponsored and organized in collaboration with the Service Learning Center and the Marianist Trust. Participating students, faculty, staff, and alumni gather for registration, a blessing, and a light meal before service. The Marianist Leaders Program has a goal of offering 1500 hours of service to participating organizations.

In past events, organizations and agencies have included Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Guadalupe House, Catholic Charities, Roy Mass Alternative Thrift Store, Grace Place for Alzheimers, St. Mary's Legal and Social Justice Center, Roots of Change Community Garden, Santa Rosa Children's Hospital, and many more!

Students should register their service hours on the Student Service Involvement Report, available with Sister Gretchen or in the Service Learning Center.

Contact the Service Learning Center at (210) 431-2108 or servicelearning@stmarytx.edu with any questions regarding this event.
