ˇBienvenidos a San Antonio! Welcome to San Antonio! Though the seventh largest city in the United States, San Antonio continues to retain its unique flavor and sense of history. Twenty million visitors flock to San Antonio each year to "Remember the Alamo", the battlecry of the Texas Revolution, shop and dine along the beautiful Paseo del Rio, more commonly known as the River Walk, and cheer the world champion San Antonio Spurs to victory. Be sure to visit the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau to plan a memorable experience in charming San Antonio. St. Mary's University, founded in 1852 by the Marianist (Society of Mary) brothers and priests, is the oldest university in San Antonio, and the oldest Catholic university in Texas and the Southwest. Northwest of downtown San Antonio, St. Mary's 135-acre campus is home to five schools: Bill Greehey School of Business; Humanities and Social Sciences; Science, Engineering and Technology; Graduate and Law.
A student-faculty ratio of 13 to 1 assures personal attention designed to help students excel in their chosen fields. St. Mary's students receive personal attention from some 200 full-time faculty members, 92 percent of whom have terminal degrees, and learn from powerful programs in 44 different areas, in addition to pre-professional programs in medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, allied health and law.
