Transfer Students
Applicants seeking admission as transfer students with advanced standing will be considered if they
- have been enrolled at an American Bar Association accredited law school where they have completed one year (two full semesters) of law school and
- are in good standing and eligible to continue at that law school.
- apply between June 1 and July 1 for fall admission only.
Applicants with advanced standing must complete a minimum of 58 credits at St. Mary's. Besides submitting the application for admission and application fee, the transfer applicant must submit directly to St. Mary’s University School of Law:
- an official law school transcript of all work completed;
- a letter of good standing from the Dean of your law school certifying that you are in good standing and eligible to continue and include class rank, if available;
- an official transcript evidencing your bachelor's degree;
- a letter stating your reasons for wishing to transfer and
- any letters of recommendation you wish to submit from law professors.
Students Previously Excluded From St. Mary's University School of Law (or withdrawing after one semester with an average GPA below 2.0):
These individuals may apply for admission as a beginning law student after at least one complete academic year has elapsed since either exclusion or withdrawal.
Students Previously Dismissed from a Law School Other Than St. Mary’s:
Individuals who have been academically dismissed from any other law school can be considered for admission as beginning first-year students for a fall term that commences at least two years after the date of the previous dismissal. First-year admission occurs only in the fall of each calendar year.
