Prospective Students

The Office of Career Services assists St. Mary’s law students and graduates in creating action plans to search for summer and post-graduate employment. We provide informative information sessions and online programming to prepare students and alumni for the job market. We strive to maintain strong relationships with employers and alumni to provide students and alumni with valuable contacts in the legal field and job opportunities. Our staff consists of two licensed attorneys: Assistant Dean and Adjunct Professor of Law, Faye Bracey and Director of Career Services, Suzanne Patrick. We also have two very friendly and supportive staff members.

Our services include:
  • Career counseling and personal advising
  • Mock interviews
  • Judicial Observerships/Internships and Judicial Clerkship Application and Mailing Program
  • Comprehensive Student Resource Center including books and online resources
  • Access to two student computers, printers, shredder, telephone, fax machine and copiers for career related purposes
  • Mock Interview Software that can be accessed regularly with feedback from a member of our staff.
  • Access to Symplicity: St. Mary’s University School of Law’s job bank and online recruiting system
  • Monthly programming to introduce students to various areas of the law and help them build skill sets to be successful in their job search, including a wide variety of topics such as interviewing skills, law firm economics, alternative careers, networking, construction law, corporate counsel and many others
  • Participation in job fairs throughout Texas and the country
  • Fall and Spring On-Campus Recruiting
  • Free coffee for all Students
Our students come from varied backgrounds and bring many unique experiences to St. Mary’s University School of Law. We look forward to meeting you if you choose to attend St. Mary’s University School of Law. We start programming for first year students after November 1 of every year in accordance with the National Association of Law Placement (NALP) guidelines. This gives you time to adjust and settle into law school before turning to career related tasks.
