Before St. Mary's
Upon graduation from law school, Professor Haddock served as a law clerk to Justice W.F. Rogosheske of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Before entering the teaching profession, he practiced law for several years with the St. Paul law firm of Briggs and Morgan, specializing in municipal bonds. He also worked full time drafting proposed legislation during one legislative session with the office of the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes. He began his teaching career at the law school of Hamline University and has been a member of the faculty at St. Mary's since 1980.

- As a law professor: In addition to his permanent position at St. Mary's, Professor Haddock has served as a visiting professor at a number of universities, Washington and Lee University (1987-1988); University of Utah (summer 1988); Hastings College of the Law (spring semester 1989); University of Innsbruck, Austria (spring semester 1998); and Pepperdine University School of Law (1998-1999).
- Professor Haddock has attended the program of the Institute on Law and Economics sponsored by George Mason University.
- Professor Haddock has made presentations at two conferences of the Association of American Law Schools.
