Welcome to "Women Characters in Latin American Literature"A site dedicated to the study and celebration of the women characters of Latin American literature Since its very beginnings, Latin American literature has been peopled by remarkable women characters, each as important to the definition of the literature of the Latin American nations as women themselves have been important to the definition of their own nations. In this site, we offer concise studies of the most important Latin American women characters created by male and female writers. Our aim is to provide a space in which both the student and the teacher of Latin American literature-as well as the general reader-can find precise information about plot, character development, and historical background, to better situate the characters within the national and continental literary tradition of the time they were created. We are a peer edited publication, therefore the final text appearing on the screen has been read by at least two referees. Colleagues from everywhere can participate in this project, both as writers and as readers. If you are interested in taking part of this work, contact María Claudia André. We are in the process of forming the editorial board. Please see the specific instructions for manuscript preparation in the SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES. Thank you very much for your interest, and tell your colleagues and students about the site. The editors Maria C. André Eva P. Bueno |
