SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINESThe project "Women Characters of Latin American Literature" is a development of an earlier project, the "Encyclopedia of Latin American Women Writers", which has been in progress since 1997, and is currently available at http://www.hope.edu/latinamerican In "Women Characters of Latin American Literature," the work of both male and female writers is critically analyzed. Although the main purpose is to explore different aspects of women characters, each essay must provide a general plot line, historical background, and critical appraisal of the work in which the character appears. Naturally, in a work in which several important female characters appear, all of them should be studied, and the title of the essay should have the name of the character the essay writer considers the most prominent. If you are interested in participating, please contact Maria Claudia André andre@hope.edu. We always assign a subject to the first person who shows interest in writing about it. From the moment your offer to write an essay is accepted, you have 2 months to write the essay and send it to the editor. The essay will then be peer edited. If accepted for publication, the contributor will receive a notification within a month. If changes are needed, the contributor will also be notified and given time for corrections/developments. Please note that the time given for writing and correction of the essay has to be followed carefully. Failure to deliver the essay at the time agreed upon may cause the subject to be assigned to another contributor. Each essay should have two to five pages of text, and one page of bibliography. Whenever the original work has been translated into English, provide complete reference to the translation. Provide also a concise list of criticism on the work. Whenever appropriate, other works by the same author can appear in the bibliography. Make sure your quotations from the original text do not exceed fair use. The MLA style is adopted for this publication. Save the final text in Word format, using as little formatting as possible, scan for viruses, and send as an attachment to ebueno@stmarytx.edu. The essays will be preceded by a picture of the cover of the book. Please scan the cover, save in .jpeg format, and send the image with your text. At the end of your essay, provide your name and the name of your institution. (See the model provided.) We hope you want to take part in this important project. |
