Mission

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences affirms as its primary mission the implementation of the fundamental commitment of St. Mary's University to giving Christian purpose and dynamism to the community's search for the integration of faith and reason, to its faculty's dedication to a life of scholarship, and to the extension of service to the University and to society. The School contributes to the fulfillment of this commitment:

• Through an active colleagueship among its faculty,
• Through the Core Curriculum in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, which are central to the aesthetic, intellectual and civic life of the University;
• Through its engagement in teacher education and professional training in its numerous majors and minors;
• Through the various forms of scholarship; and
• Through the professional service of its faculty and students to the city, state, nation, and world.
