  • Their primary care physician or health insurance plans for advice.
  • The emergency room contracted with the student's primary insurance carrier.

***Students who carry their own health insurance outside of the STMU-sponsored health insurance plan, should become very familiar with their insurance plans. The Student Health Center does not have information regarding other insurance plans. The student should know if his/her plan is an HMO (requires PCP referral to see specialists) or a PPO. The student should establish care with a physician in the San Antonio community and know which hospitals and pharmacies they can go to. All this information can be made available to the student by calling the customer service department for their particular insurance plan.
