Student Health Center
Student Health Center The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide high quality primary health care services that are cost-effective and accessible to enrolled students of St. Mary's University. The provision of efficient and timely health care services on campus serves to minimize the academic interruptions that students may experience from an illness or injury. The Student Health Center physicians and staff offer services that are nondiscriminatory and nonjudgmental. Significant importance is placed in respecting the rights to privacy and confidentiality of each patient. It is through personalized evaluation, treatment and health education that students learn to make positive, long lasting lifestyle choices.

Patient Appointments

Patient visits with the doctor are limited during the month of June, and there is no patient care during the month of July. Visits with the physician or physician assistant are made by appointment only, by calling 210-436-3506. Same-day visits can be made by calling the clinic or on a walk-in basis. Students are encouraged to call during morning hours if they wish to be seen on the same day.

Missed appointments will incur a $10 fine. You must cancel your appointment within four hours to avoid this charge.

Location

The Student Health Center is an outpatient primary health clinic located on the first floor of Charles Francis. The clinic is staffed by one physician, two medical assistants, an business manager, and a receptionist. Only one practitioner is available to see patients at any given time so please call the clinic in advance if you have a preference.

Who is Eligible for Care?

All enrolled students of St. Mary's University are eligible to receive care at the Student Health Center. For those enrolled in the Academic Health Plan, there is a $10 charge per visit with a physician or physician assistant. The cost is $25 for those not enrolled. Spouses and children of enrolled students must seek care elsewhere. The Student Health Center is limited to the care of students, and therefore staff and faculty must seek care from their own primary care physicians.
