Student Health Center The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide high quality primary health care services that are cost-effective and accessible to enrolled students of St. Mary's University. The provision of efficient and timely health care services on campus serves to minimize the academic interruptions that students may experience from an illness or injury. The Student Health Center physicians and staff offer services that are nondiscriminatory and nonjudgmental. Significant importance is placed in respecting the rights to privacy and confidentiality of each patient. It is through personalized evaluation, treatment and health education that students learn to make positive, long lasting lifestyle choices.

Patient Appointments

Visits with the physician or midlevel provider are made by appointment by calling 210-436-3506. There is only one medical provider (MD/NP/PA) available to see patients on any given day. Students who desire a same day appointment are encouraged to call during morning hours since same day appointments are limited.

Missed appointments will incur a $10 fine. You must cancel your appointment within four hours to avoid this charge.


Location

The Student Health Center is an outpatient primary health clinic located on the first floor of Charles Francis. The clinic is staffed by one physician, two medical assistants, an business manager, and a receptionist. Only one practitioner is available to see patients at any given time so please call the clinic in advance if you have a preference.


Who is Eligible for Care?

All enrolled students of St. Mary's University are eligible to receive care at the Student Health Center. For those enrolled in the Academic Health Plan, there is a $10 charge per visit with a physician or midlevel provider (NP/PA). The cost is $25 for an office visit at the Student Health Center for those who are not enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. There are additional charges for lab, medications and procedures performed in the clinic. Spouses and children of enrolled students must seek care elsewhere. The Student Health Center is limited to the care of students, and therefore staff and faculty must seek care from their own primary care physicians.
