October 2, 2009
3:45 p.m., University Center Conf. Rm. A

What is T.O.G.A.S?

T.O.G.A.S., which stands for Teaching Outstanding Greek Attributes and Standards, is the new member education program sponsored by the Greek Life Office. This program is held at the beginning of each semester. All new members of Greek Letter organizations are required to attend this educational program. T.O.G.A.S. will cover important topics such as hazing and alcohol use and abuse. In addition, participants will get the opportunity to meet other chapter members and learn more about Greek Life at St. Mary's University.

T.O.G.A.S is mandatory for all new members of all Greek Letter organizations!

If you were unable to attend T.O.G.A.S., a report will need to be completed in lieu of your attendance. The report will consist of five individual article analyses regarding the T.O.G.A.S. topics which include:

  1. Hazing (1-page minimum)
  2. Alcohol/Drug Substance Abuse (1-page minimum)
  3. Sexual Assault (1-pageminimum)
  4. History of Greek Life at St. Mary's (including the founding of your chapter) (1-page minimum)
  5. Analysis of a Greek Life new member program at another university (1-page minimum)

*Please note that the article or resource used will need to be submitted with the report.

The report is due to the Student Life Office, ATTN: Greek Life, on October 16th by 5pm. Consequently, failure to complete the paper will result in judicial action. If you have any questions, please contact the Greek Life Office at greeklife@stmarytx.edu, or at 210-436-3714, ext. 1237.
