Career OpportunitiesElementary and secondary teachers, who feel the need to grow intellectually and professionally, will be attracted to this program. A significant number of Ph.D. bound students desire to do their Master's level work while they are gaining professional experience in the classroom. Businesses that prepare teaching and testing materials for public and private educational institutions ranging from university level to pre-kindergarten use the services of trained reading personnel. The number of businesses that provide continuing education for employees is increasing. As these programs grow, so will the need for trained reading specialists. Literacy programs will recognize the need for reading specialists to lead volunteer efforts. Reading specialists work as classroom teachers, remedial reading teachers, clinical specialists, consultants, and school supervisory personnel. |
