Master of Arts in Counseling Admissions
The Department of Counseling and Human Services actively encourages the recruitment,acceptance and enrollment of minority students including Hispanic students andother minorities of the region and south Texas.

ADMISSION CATEGORIES Consult your acceptance letter from the Graduate Dean to determine your Admission Category.
1) Regular: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; prerequisites not required; scholarship, test scores, and credentials indicate ability topursue graduate studies.
2) Conditional: Admission test or removal of deficiencies required. May enroll in a maximum nine hours and must earn a B or better in all coursestaken as a conditional student.
3) Special: Non-degree or transfer credit to another university. Students taking courses to complete licensure requirements should file a letterstating which courses they need to take.
4) Provisional: May take up to 9 semester hours. Does not imply admission.
Time limits for completing conditions for conditional admission: Conditions which must be satisfied prior to enrollment will be specified. Others must be satisfied during the first semester of enrollment. Once conditionsare satisfied, students must submit a change of status application.
CHANGE OF STATUS APPLICATION Conditional students must submit a CHANGE OF STATUS application to the Graduate Advisor once they have completed the conditions. Students who are limited to nine hours conditional enrollment, must complete the CHANGE OF STATUS application at the completion of their first semester, before they can register for the second semester.
