State of Texas Principal Certificate

After earning an M.A. in Catholic School Leadership, a student may pursue the State of Texas Principal Certificate by earning 9 additional hours of graduate credit and successfully meeting all certification requirements. For programs approved by the State of Texas, the University is authorized to recommend qualified candidates for Principal Certification. Requirements for completing such an approved program are as follows:

A. Completion of a Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership (at St. Mary's University).

B. Completion of an additional 9 hours of appropriate coursework in Education.

c. Passing score on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) for the Principal Certificate.

d. Two years of acceptable classroom teaching experience.

e. Valid Teacher Certificate, special education certificate, or vocational certificate that requires a bachelor's degree.
