Admission to the Graduate School is granted to individuals with high promise for success in graduate study, as demonstrated through previous schooling and testing. All applicants must have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited college or university. As an exception, auditors are not required to have a degree. Refer to degree programs for specific requirements. The Aptitude Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is required of all applicants. Test scores are valid for five years after the test date. Tests may be waived for students who already have a graduate degree. The appropriate test should be taken before registration, but it may be taken during the first semester of enrollment for some degree programs, with further enrollment contingent upon test results. Students from foreign countries must submit test scores prior to admission. Please request TWO official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended be sent to St. Mary's University Graduate School. TWO professional recommendations are also needed from individuals who can address your intellectual competence and potential for success (i.e. professors, employers, etc.). Please request that these recommendations be written on institutional/business letter head. Note: Materials submitted in connection with the application will not be returned.
