Endowing the Mission
St. Mary's graduates are informed community builders inspired by faith, who seek understanding and wisdom for the common good, and who are prepared to lead extraordinary lives. They are coloring our world for the better in hues of gold and blue.
St. Mary's University has been recognized for nearly 160 years for its Catholic and Marianist traditions, academic excellence, and commitment to serving the community. This commitment is being recognized on a local and national level. In 2011, St. Mary’s was one of only six schools named a Presidential Awardee by the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition for service in higher education. These accolades are resulting in an increase in demand and more students than ever before are choosing St. Mary’s for their education.
In 2005, St. Mary’s had approximately 1,500 applications. In 2011, we had more 4,000 applications--an approximately 170% increase in just six years. And for the first time in the school’s history, St. Mary’s had a waiting list for admission.
