A little about the Class of 2010
Every year, the incoming freshman class brings to St. Mary’s its own unique personality. Your son or daughter has had the opportunity to become acquainted with many of his or her fellow classmates. So that you, too, can become acquainted with these students, below are interesting facts about our fall 2006 freshman class:
- 63 percent are female
- 37 percent are male
- 32 percent were ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating class
- 28 percent had a grade point average in the 95-100 range
- 30 percent had a grade point average in the 90-94 range
- 24 percent had a grade point average in the 85-89 range
- The mean ACT score was 22
- The mean SAT score was 1050
- 75 percent graduated from public schools
- 23 percent graduated from private schools
- 91 percent of the students are from Texas
- 46 percent are from San Antonio
- 11 percent are from the Rio Grande Valley
- 11 percent are from El Paso
- 5 percent are from Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area
- 4 percent are from the Austin area
- 4 percent are from Houston
- 2 percent are from Laredo
- 2 percent are from Corpus Christi
- 15 percent are from other areas in Texas
- 7 percent of the students are from other states, including from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington
- 2 percent of the students come from foreign countries and US territories including from Guam, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, and Suriname
- 70 percent of the freshman class is living on campus
- 41percent of the freshman class has chosen a major in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
- 40 percent of the freshman class has chosen a major in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology
- 19 percent of the freshman class has chosen a major in the Bill Greehey School of Business
- The most popular majors are biology, psychology, criminal justice, undecided business, English communication arts, and general business
