We want to see you every year.

Your education is important. Although St. Mary’s University is a value compared to other top-rated independent regional universities, we understand that you may need help.

Remember that financial assistance is an ongoing process – you need to complete certain steps and forms each year. We want to ensure that all of the aid offered is credited to your account. But, we need your help:

Federal Direct Stafford Loan Online Entrance Counseling: Complete this once as a first-time borrower or first-time student at St. Mary’s University.

Federal Direct Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note: Sign this once as a first-time borrower or a first-time student at St. Mary’s University.

Perkins Loan Promissory Note: E-sign this once.

Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS Loan): available to creditworthy parents who want to borrow a portion or all of the annual cost of education minus other aid offered. Repayment is generally set at small payments on a 10-year plan and begins when the student graduates or falls below half-time status. This federal loan is offered at a fixed interest rate of 8.5 percent.  To begin the PLUS loan application, complete and return the Application for Parent/Graduate Loan to the Office of Financial Assistance.   Visit www.stmarytx.edu/finaid/?go=forms, and click Forms for Download.

Students should pursue all possibilities for scholarships, grants, work-study and federal loan programs before borrowing from an alternative loan program.  For students who require more assistance bridging the gap to the cost of attendance, additional educational loans are available.  It is helpful to apply early.  Below are alternative educational loans borrowed by St. Mary's students.  We encourage all students to research and evaluate the information provided with any loan program.
