Minutes for 403rd Meeting of the Faculty Senate

March 23, 2007, 1:30 p.m. Alkek 106

Present:

Senators Boggess, Losiewicz, Byrd, Curet, Cutting, Hampton, Hartigan, Jacquemin, Pallansch, Redfield, Robbins, Wosman.

1. Opening Prayer

President Boggess led the prayer.

2. Approval of Minutes

Senator Byrd motioned to approve the 402nd minutes, and Senator Cutting seconded. The motion passed and the minutes were approved.

3. Special Faculty Senate meeting

On April 13^th at 1:30 p.m. in Alkek 106 the Senate will discuss the Banner system. Our guest will be Sam Ellis (consultant) to talk about vision for technology at StMU

4. New Business:

Discussion of resolutions proposed by Ad Hoc Committee

Present first time: Curet, Diaz, Robbins, O’Connor, Boggess

Revisions – O’Connor, Robbins, Boggess

Considerable discussion

The Ad Hoc Committee (Senator Hartigan no longer participating) will work on another draft(s) of concerns and potential calls for actions. Senator Wosman will circulate a draft formula of potential questions about the core process.

Motion to extend to 3:15

We did not reach the rest of the agenda aside from the following report:

University Technology – Carol Redfield

The UTC, and the subcommittee for distance learning have meet three more times. The distance learning committee will send a recommendation to Dr. Manuel’s office by the end of the semester.
