EHS Mission
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) strives to promote a safe and healthy working, learning, and living environment for the University community. The purpose of the EHS Program is to provide a safe workplace for students, faculty, and staff; protect the environment and community; and promote compliance to federal, state and local regulations.- Waste stream determinations and disposal of regulated wastes
- Safety, storage, and handling of hazardous chemicals
- Monitoring and reporting of air emissions
- Control of wastewater discharge to POTW
- Recycling and sustainability
- EHS Awareness Training
Key Due Dates
Global Harmonization System (GHS):- 12/1/2013 - Staff training completed for new labeling elements and SDS formats.
- 12/1/2015 - All incoming chemical containers must be in compliance to the new labeling system.
- 6/1/2016 - Implementation of new labeling for all chemicals stored on campus and updated Haz Communication Program.
- 7/5/2015 - Full implementation of all elements of the EMS on campus.
