Procedures for Establishing Services
Students (full-time or part-time; undergraduate, graduate, or law school) must provide Disability Support Services with the required documentation of his or her disability at the time (or before) accommodations and/or services are requested.
Depending on the disability, documentation may need to be updated on a periodic, pre-set basis (see related note directly below). The Disability Support Services Office will let a student know if this requirement applies to him/her.
NOTE: Documentation for all law students with disabilities who wish to apply for accommodations on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) and/or the Bar Exam must be less than three years old.
Applying for Services
A student must provide the required documentation (see Required Documentation for more information) of his/her disability or disabilities to Disability Support Services.
An appointment for 30-60 minutes will be set-up for the student to meet with the Coordinator of Disability Support Services. If the student has not already provided Disability Support Services with a copy of his/her documentation, then he/she should bring the documentation to this meeting.
During the meeting, the Coordinator of Disability Support Services will verify that:
- The documentation meets the required documentation guidelines.
- If it does, the student will then be instructed to fill-out the following forms:
- Application for Services
- Request for Letters of Accommodations
Once these forms are filled-out, the Coordinator will prepare Letters of Accommodation for the student; the student will pick-up the Letters and deliver them to his/her professors of choice.
NOTE:Accommodations are not retroactive and begin only after the student has delivered his/her Letters of Accommodation to his/her professors.
